Bus Interface The NSE utilizesadualbusinterface consisting ofthe NSE Request Bus and the NSE Response Bus. The NSE Request Busis comprised ofthe Command Busand the RequestData Bus. The Command Bus handlestheinstructiontotheNSE while the Request Data Busis the maindata pathtothe NSE. The 72 bit bi-directional Request Data Bus functions as a multiplexed address and data bus, which performs the writing and reading of NSE entries, as well as presenting lookup data to the device. The NSE Response Busis comprised ofan independent unidirec- tionallndex Bus which d rives the result of the lookup (orindex) to either an SRAM device oran ASIC. In addition to driving the Index, the NSE Response Busalsodrivesthe associated SRAM controlsignals CEIOE, and WE)foreitherZBT7 orSynchronous Pipeline Burst SRAM devices.
